Christmas Outfit

Wearing: Peplum top from a boutique; shawl (gift from mum);
jeans from a factory outlet in Bandung; bag from Bonita;
hairband from a night market
Massimo Dutti's flats (thanks to my aunt).

I wore this outfit to a Christmas dinner, minus the shawl at the beginning. The restaurant is pretty chilly so  put it on in the end. I received a Christmas gift too! :D Pardon me for the blurriness of the pics for these are the best two I can find from my Christmas collection. I didn't really take lotsa pictures this Christmas so yeah.

Those Massimo Dutti flats are so comfy. Seriously it's of top quality! Gotta thanks my aunt for lending it to me that night. I've been trying on different flats and the Massimo Dutti ones are the best I've tried thus far.

PS: This is not an advertisement for Massimo Dutti. The post is purely an opinion of mine. (:

Christmas Break

I was in KL during Christmas, and what I love most about this day is the Christmas spirit decorated with Christmas trees, reindeers, snowman, bells, sleigh, angels and ribbons. Here's a short story of my Christmas trip:
Can't remember where I took this picture but I love the sparkly glittery tree!
Christmas deco at the corner of The Loaf at Pavillion.
Angel, and more of them in Starhill Gallery.

A free cheesecake after shopping.
Ate it with my cousins - Joy of the season.
Reindeer caught at Pavillion.
The place is crowded with people.
Christmas Cupcakes at Ritz-Carlton Residence Lounge.
Love them.
I had a wonderful Christmas dinner with my relatives at a restaurant in KL. Too bad I couldn't recall the name. Believe it or not, the restaurant ran out of turkey, but the other dishes are equally good.

Smoked Salmon.
How can you ever resist this?
Some cheesy soup with mussel and prawn.
Cod fish as main course. Lovely.

Dessert made of brownies and ice-cream.
And lastly, macaroons made by May.

Peter Pan Collar

Dress from Dorothy Perkins, belt from Forever 21,
gladiator sandals from House of Donatello.

I've been waiting for this weekend to come, as it marks the end of my third posting, and finally, some time to rest. Wheeee! I had a wonderful Thai buffet dinner with my mum, and she surprised me by requesting a song from a band. Awww, the sweetest thing ever! :D Well, I wore this peter pan collar flare patterned dress as it matches my mood tonight - being happy. ((: It originally came with a black belt with gold plated buckle, but I decided to give it a go with the flower belt I got from F21. The pattern on the dress feels so indie and I love it! I think this look allows both the dress and belt to stand out uniquely.

I am Abigail!

I'm sure some of you must have chanced upon or be invited to vote for Abigail by a non-profit organization called More Than Me.

This organization is dedicated in getting the girls off the street and into schools. These girls will be given a chance for education and to contribute to the society in the future. Without education, they might end up with a risk of prostituting themselves and voluntarily become a sex slave, just to survive in this world. It's really sad because while we are born lucky, some aren't. They suffered A LOT just to keep their tummies filled and to keep surviving, and this is something we never go through because we have the means to find a decent job to live.

I VOTED FOR ABIGAIL and I hope you vote too!
Cast your vote at this website: http://aga-fb.chasegiving.com/charity/view/id/8 and like More Than Me facebook page! Join THIS EVENT too! Let's help to get the girls off the street and give them a chance to learn like us!

I couldn't write it on my forehead for I still have to attend hospital postings,
so I'm writing it on my notebook, where I jot down all the notes! (:
Details about Abigail is taken from Bloggers Against Social Injustice:
"Abigail was an orphan in West Point, Liberia. You may have read her letter in a previous article here on the Huffington Post. At six, she was left with prostitutes. She learned to work the streets in order to get access to drinking water and food. Education was not an option.

Then Abigail met Katie Meyler, the founder of More Than Me, an organization dedicated to getting girls off the streets and into schools. Katie and Abigail became fast friends, and More Than Me has raised the money to put Abigail through school. She is learning to bake, and aspires to one day be a Senator, so she can, in turn, help other girls like her.

So, why are all these people also “Abigail”? Abigail could be you. Abigail could be your sister, your niece, your student, or your neighbor. Remember, we live in a global community; there is no “me” without “we”, Abigail is because you are, and you are because Abigail is."

Abigail's message to the world:

Dear World,

My name is Abigail. I'm 13-years-old. I live in West Point, Liberia. I don't know my parents... I was left with prostitutes when I was six-years-old. They took care of me, but life was hard. Often, I didn't have a place to sleep or food to eat. I never went to school. And I would often sleep at a video club so men could find me and then "rent" me for the night. I was abused, both in my mind and body. I didn't feel loved.
When I met the people at More Than Me, my life changed. I have a new home now and food to eat. I'm in school now. I'm happy now. I feel like I have a future now. I feel loved. I've learned how to bake, which helps me earn extra money.
Please help vote for me so I can continue in this new life and stay in school. Your vote is my future. I'll do anything to show you that I'll do my best in school and become something with my life.
Love,
Abigail

Banana Cereal Flakes

A bowl of high-calorie banana cereal flakes that can be served as breakfast or dessert.

I made this out of the blue tonight because I was so hungry, and oh my it tasted really well. -tears of joy-
Conclusion: definitely my energy generator. (:

Ingredients:
1. 2 Pisang awak
2. 1/2 bowl of Nestle Fitness cereal - Honey and Almond
3. VSoy

First, I sliced the bananas into thin pieces and then just mix it with the cereal and soya bean. And TADA!! My magical bowl of banana flakes was ready and it made me smile the whole night, not to mention providing me the energy to prepare for my next day posting presentation. (:

For those who are lactose intolerance, soya bean is a good substitute for milk. Of course, it has to be consumed in moderation.

Simply Soft and Simple

Grey tank top from Padini; feather top from P&CO,
pants bought from Bandung's warehouse,
necklace and bracelet are gifts from friends,
hairclip from Diva, slippers from Havaianas.

Finally back with an outfit post after such a long time. (: Past few weeks were filled with lotsa experiences, therefore explained my absence. I decided to put on something soft and simple today, partly because I'm feeling much better now since the loss of my grandma and I wanted a relaxing day. I paired a feathery top with a pastel light blue pants (called jeggings), and I'm definitely feeling happier today. (: Initially, I thought of completing the look with heels, but decided to go with a pair of normal slippers to give a simpler and casual look.

Beauty is skin deep.

There's so many things I would love to share with you over here, but at the end of the day, it boils down to this:

Picture taken from tumblr.
Aundrey Hepburn has been recognised as a film and fashion icon for many years, even after her demise. Something about her has been gathering my attention all these years, after I watched My Fair Lady. Occasionally, I chanced upon her story in the internet and most of it, I can say, are my inspiration. (:

"Audrey Hepburn spent many years in Africa helping the helpless, yet all the pictures on Tumblr show her as a fashion icon. Fashion passes in a wink, compassion lasts forever."

My granny passed away last Friday. It's been a tough week, but we all have to move on. And I'm sure she doesn't want to see us being sad for a long time. I gave an eulogy during her funeral, and those flashback of memories kept my tears rolling down my cheek, I'll miss her forever. And my granny said something similar as the quote above once upon a time, so yeah.

My cousin, Belinda did a proper fishtail braid for me during my granny's funeral. Mind you, she's only 12 going 13. (: Here it is:

Disney Princesses

Forever an inspiration, forever with an elegance of kindness and forever a beautiful story.

I believe most girls grow up watching Disney, and fall in love with the characters in the story. Even adults can't get enough of Disney because the stories silently reflects the desire we all have - living happily ever after.

Well, I chanced upon this blog "Rockin' Around The Frock" and I love how Harrods showcase the Disney princesses in all the astonishing gowns. I hope all of you enjoy this as much as I do.

I have always love Ariel from The Little Mermaid but currently, I'm totally amazed by Aurora's dress by Elie Saab. I also love Marchesa's Ariel's gown a lot!

Feline's Rules

1. Rules the house like nobody's business.
2. Sleep everywhere, anywhere that's comfortable and has sunshines.
3.  Know how to cover its eyes when it's too bright.
4. Purrrrr.
5. Maintain self-cleanliness.
6. Stretching as exercise.
7. Find a comfortable pose for picture.
8. Tries hard to keep calm.
9. Having nine lives for more pictures to be taken. :P
Introducing Kitty Kitty Meow Meow, a cat that purrs, keep rats away from the house and lives harmoniously with a mini-pinscher. (:

I'll be back with more style pictures in the next post. Been busy with exams, studies and other stuffs lately.
I've been praying really hard, for miracles to happen, for my grandma to get well. The worst thing about being a medical student is having the knowledge and not being able to do much to help the person I love.

Well, I've submitted a few pieces of my writing to my friend, and was told that it'll be published in a newsletter. (:

That's all for now!
Hope November started out well for everyone out there!

Little gifts that means a lot to me (:

Gifts from friends that look common, but holds the memories of a lasting friendship forged since the day we met. Most gifts are still kept in my little treasure box back home. No man is an island. These friends I've made have left a significant impact in my life. They grow with me, share my happy and sad moments and bug me once in a while to keep my sanity in check. :P Cheers to our friendship, and may it be an everlasting one!

A constant reminder in life:

Adapted from my personal blog "Just Believe" on 26th October 2012:

We all started out as innocent kids, and then we grow; then came the lucrative offers of life that blinded our initial purpose of living, we became greedy, and nothing seems to be ever enough, even till the point when things seem perfect and we feel like we are in control of our life. Imagine one day, you receive a horrendous news, knowing you have a few more months to live. Your world came crushing down, but nothing is going to change that fact. This is a story of Dr. Richard Teo, whom I supposed is a well-known aesthetics practitioner. It's a story to inspire and remind us that life should be lived to the fullest, and to never ever lose sight of what really matters to us.

Here's the link to his transcript:
http://www.heavenaddress.com/Dr-Richard-Teo-Keng-Siang/424153/379719/content

"When I faced death, when I had to, I stripped myself off all stuff totally and I focused only on what is essential. The irony is that a lot of times only when we learn how to die then we learn how to live. ... Don't let society tell you how to live. Don't let the media tell you what you're supposed to do okay because that's what happened to me. And I led this life thinking all these things are going to bring me happiness. I hope you will think about it and decide for yourself how you want to live your life. Not according to what other people tell you to do and you have to decide whether you want to serve yourself or whether you are going to make a difference in somebody else's life. Because true happiness doesn't come from serving yourself."
- Dr Richard Teo

He passed away on the 18th October 2012. May he rest in peace.

Everyone must have been through a lot at the age of 23. We are constantly in search of our identity, questions the purpose of our existence and what we really want in life. There are others who have been through worse. We all learn through the hard way. Some are luckier, they get to learn through secondary experiences.

While living and pursuing our dreams, we are often side-tracked by the temptations and obsessions our dreams offer in life. We indulge in those thoughts and gradually forgetting our sincerity in achieving the dream. Life became purposeless. We lost our moral compass along the way. All we see is money, fame and power, all the superficial tangible or intangible objects in life. Blinded by greed, jealousy and pride, we refused to acknowledge our mistakes and swayed minds, and we only understand happiness by being materialistic and individualistic, never really knowing what true happiness is. We are living a life envisioned by the society and our greed, and forgetting what we truly want in the process.

The wake-up calls come only when we face similar situations like Dr. Richard, or by means of others ways, which make us realize the way we live is wrong. Sometimes, it's too late for us to relive our lives. In fact, we can't relive the past, because all of us only have ONE SHOT of living, and that's it. It's never too late to repent, to set things right again, but don't live in regrets. We are lucky because he shared his story to constantly remind us the meaning of life, and it certainly doesn't revolve around money or fame, because everything is impermanent.

At each phase of life, rumours will never cease to spread. There will be people gaining pleasure by continuously making fun of you, putting you down and doubting your sincerity. There will be people thinking poorly of you for spreading your happiness. Let them be because it's all impermanent, time will prove everything and they need time to grow. I know because I once lived in those shadows, and then became part of the black hole. It felt terrible. They do so because they don't know who you really are, and I dare say so because I'm still getting to know myself. Everyone changes with time. I've several fake and superficial friends before and because of them, I learnt who my true friends are and who matter most to me, I met wonderful people along the way and I really appreciate all of them.

Right now or at certain points in life, we may seem lost, not knowing what to do or what we really want in life, and we just go with the flow. It's okay for it's just part and parcel of living. Just breath, stay cool (:P) and live the moment. I know I'm in no such position to give any suggestions for I have so much more to experience and learn in life. One thing I'm sure of is to be yourself and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Remember: "All the art of living lies in the fine mingling of letting go and holding on." ~Henry Ellis

"You can dream big, you can wish upon the star, you can go the distant, but don't you ever lose sight of what's really important and always stay true to yourself." ~Ti Tiana

Playful Wear

Sleeveless top from Nichii; cardigan from mum; shorts from Elle;
sandals from House of Donatello; handbag from Bonita;
hair accessory from a friend.

Feeling playful and casual, I wore this look out on a typical Friday. No date. No accompany. Just myself and some personal time, which I needed after a long hectic week. This look is a story of me being simple, casual and a little playful, all at a time. Thanks to my roomie, Adilah who capture all the pictures. It was the happiest and most relaxing moment of the week!

An evening through my eyes.

I took these pictures when I went for an evening walk after I got up from a long nap. The day was clear from the greyish cloudy atmosphere and I just bask in the beauty of nature I find around my university. I enjoy taking a walk to clear my mind and keep myself refresh from the daily hoo-has and hectic schedules. I like the scent of serenity and feel of a sense of peacefulness I find within myself.

How did you spend your day?
